Fair Acres, a Hamptons Mansion
Fair Acres was built in 1908 for Theodore Wentz, Mr Wentz wanted his home to have the feel of the south, so he sent his architect to James River, Virginia to look at the colonial houses there. The mansion’s southern flare strikes you as you enter the formal front parlour with a view of its spectacular front stairway that divides going right and left to the second floor. Also as you enter the building one can’t help but notice the incredibly high ceilings. All these architectural elements worked in Stephan’s favour as he started his design process. Respecting these elements and the history of the house informed most of his decisions from furnishings to finishes.
